Gardening in the ground – like farmers do – is an ideal way to grow your vegetables and requires only a few inputs. Break up the soil, and plant some seeds! That said, raised beds can provide many benefits! If you’ve ever thought about building a wooden raised bed but have been unsure of how to start, this workshop is for you!
We will give you background information on pros & cons of different types of lumber & how to treat it for longevity, linings, soil, sizes, anticipated costs, etc. with a take-home handout. We’ll also discuss how growing in a raised bed differs from growing in-ground. We will then demonstrate an actual build. If you want to build along with us, you can certainly do so – just reach out to us after you’ve registered indicating your interest and we will send out a list of required supplies and best places to purchase the necessary materials. As for those participants who just want to learn the techniques and tips – no problem! At the end of the workshop all will receive a few plants or seeds to get started! All questions are welcome!
