PROJECT TITLE: Mapping Our Watershed

ARTIST BIO:
Rebecca Schultz is a multi-disciplinary artist creating works that cultivate wonder for the ecosystems surrounding us and reflect on humanity’s precarious relationship with the more-than-human world. She frequently incorporates visual data, such as maps and microscopic images, as well as found and foraged materials, into her work.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Mapping Our Watershed is a participatory art and community science project, produced in collaboration with the Cheltenham Center for the Arts and the Tookany-Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, that aims to connect Cheltenham Township residents with their watershed. Project participants will document their experience of the watershed by learning about its interdependent elements and translating their impressions into art, made primarily with natural materials. Their work will be combined with a series of mixed media pieces, created by lead artist Rebecca Schultz, to  form a map of Cheltenham that reflects the watershed’s materiality and complex ecology.
